Our research focuses on the development of novel methodologies, assays, and approaches for characterizing proteins, using the model yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. As yeast is a simple, unicellular, genetic organism, it is uniquely suited to act as a "living test tube" for use in characterization of heterologous systems. Specifically, our interests include developing genetic assays in yeast to characterize disease proteins, engineering ligand-regulated proteins and protein switches, expanding current technologies for detecting and analyzing protein interactions, and developing approaches to characterize and rescue misfolded proteins.

Our lab is located in the new French Family Science Center on the Duke Campus.
