Our research focuses on the development of novel methodologies, assays, and approaches for characterizing proteins, using the model yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. As yeast is a simple, unicellular, genetic organism, it is uniquely suited to act as a "living test tube" for use in characterization of heterologous systems. Specifically, our interests include developing genetic assays in yeast to characterize disease proteins, engineering ligand-regulated proteins and protein switches, expanding current technologies for detecting and analyzing protein interactions, and developing approaches to characterize and rescue misfolded proteins. |
