Photography & X-ray

Below is the list of our current photographic equipment and facilities, and their current locations. Please feel free to contact Leslie Eibest if you have any questions concerning our photographic facilities.

Cameras

Digital. Two Nikon digital cameras may be checked out from the computer support staff at help@biology.duke.edu. Please give at least 24 hrs. advance notice.

Non-digital. A Nikon Nikkor 35 mm camera may be checked out from Leslie Eibest in the SEM lab (room 0072 BioSci). We also have a Polaroid MP3 industrial camera mounted on a copy stand in the SEM lab (room 0072D).

Copy Stand & Light Table

The copy stand and light table (which might also be useful for digital photography) are located in the SEM lab, in room 0072D. Any BioSci key will allow access to this area.

Darkrooms

Our main darkroom is located in room 015. It is stocked with a Beseler 45MXT enlarger, Arkay print washer, Arkay print dryer, photochemicals and other film and print processing supplies. The key to room 015 may be checked out from Leslie Eibest (room 0072 BioSci).

The SEM lab also has a small darkroom (0072E) containing a Durst Latico point source enlarger (particularly good for printing TEM negatives), Arkay print washer, photochemicals and other consumables.

The refrigerator containing LPD4 film and stocks of photo paper is now located in the SEM lab (0072).

X-ray

The ScanTron X-ray unit has moved to the darkroom in room 015. You may contact Dr. John Mercer for training on this equipment and to check out the key for the X-ray.
