The Department of Biology Pet Policy
The Department of Biology does not encourage bringing pets to work.
However, there are no clear rules prohibiting their presence. Pet owners
bringing their pets to work are expected to adhere to the following rules
so that everyone can peacefully co-exist. This privilege hinges on owner
responsibility and consideration. If the Department deems necessary,
the privilege may be revoked.
- Only social, trained dogs should be allowed in the building.
- Dogs and cats must be leashed when walking through the halls and should
not be allowed to run freely.
- No pets are allowed in the teaching areas.
- When an owner steps out of his/her office, the dog must stay by the
owner’s side (leashed) or stay in the office with either the door
closed or with a child gate up.
- People that share office space must have the consent of office mates
to allow a dog in that space.
- Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pet. This not only
goes for bathroom accidents but for shed hair, feathers, food, drool,
or damaged property.
- Cleaning up after your pet is not the responsibility of Housekeeping
or Facilities Maintenance.
- Any property damage that occurs due to your pet should be brought
to the immediate attention of the Departmental Administrator.
