The Department of Biology Faculty Allowance Policy
The Department will give each full-time faculty member an annual allowance
of $400 per fiscal year to be spent in support of their research and “cost
of doing business” as long as they are actively teaching. Once
a faculty member ceases teaching permanently, the allowance drops to
$100 per year. To qualify for the allowance, a person must hold a primary
appointment in the Department as an Instructor, Lecturer or Professor
(Assistant, Associate or Full) or Professor of the Practice. Visiting
faculty do not qualify.
The allowance may be used for copying costs, telephone tolls, office
or research supplies, books, subscriptions, reprints, page charges and
other related expenses.
Periodic account statements will be supplied by departmental accounting
personnel. The allowance does not carry over from one fiscal year into
the next. Unused allowance returns to the department on June 30 of each
year.
