The Department of Biology Budget Policy

It is the intent of the department to provide sufficient funds for supplies and expenses to teach the Biology courses as the faculty would like them taught. This is balanced with the fiscal responsibility the department has to be a good steward of the University’s funds.

Each course is allotted an annual budget based on historical needs and instructor input within the limits of available funding. Periodic budget reports are distributed to instructors and are available on an as needed basis. It is expected that the courses will stay within their allotted budgets; however, it is also recognized that circumstances change and adjustments may need to be made. Instructors are strongly encouraged to be proactive in requesting budget adjustments as this usually provides for more funding options. See the Administrative Manager to discuss options.
