Problem set 1 (Due  20 January)

 1.  Prove the Hardy-Weinberg Law for a single locus with three alleles.

2.  Show that D = P11P22- P12P21 (see Linkage Disequilibrium handout).

3.  If the magnitude of linkage disequilibrium between two loci at time t is 0.10, p1=  0.5 = q1, and
     the recombination rate between the two loci is 0.25, what will be the magnitude of linkage
     disequilibrium after 1 generation of random mating?  After 5 generations?  After 10 generations?
     After 100 generations?  What will these magnitudes be if the  recombination rate is 0.05?
