I am interested in the role cognition plays in an organism’s ecology and how neurobiology produces behavior. As an approach to this problem, I study the spatial cognitive ability of 6 species of Puerto Rican Anolis lizards and how it relates to differences in each species’ habitat structure. I also study the neuroanatomy of each species, particularly the dorso-medial cortex, which has been implicated in spatial learning and memory formation.
