SEQUENCING SERVICE
Because DNA sequences are of great value in sorting out hydrozoan taxonomy, our PEET program, together with a technician supported by Duke University, offer a FREE sequencing service to the hydrozoan community. These sequences will be linked with species descriptions, collection information, voucher specimens, and our hydrozoan virtual library (see below), and We will sequence mitochondrial 16S rDNA, and in some cases nuclear 18S rDNA. We require that tissue donors provide the following: ?Species description (this can be in the form of a previously published article) ?Photograph or drawing of specimens ?Collection information ?Tissue in 70-95% ethanol, without exposure to formalin. ?Either a formalin fixed voucher specimen, or information about where such a voucher is stored. ?Permission to immediately publish the obtained sequences in our database.
