 My
research is to understand the evolution of gene regulation in root development. I will analyze genes expressed during root development in one fern species and ask the question of whether the evolution of the root in non-seed vascular plants is genetically homologous to the one in angiosperms. For this analysis, I am also trying to characterize the cell-type specific expression profiles of transcription factors during root development in Arabidopsis, which might be functionally significant for the determination and differentiation of tissue organization in roots. |
